nexGTv : The TV button on your mobile

I grew up during an era, when owning a colour TV was a luxury of sorts. Not the flat, thinner-than-a-needle with ultra High Definition display kinds, but the old, 14-inch, square box with a large protruding behind and two horn-like antenna jutting out the top. I still remember the excitement on everyone’s faces when my grandfather first brought one home. Much like a lot of other activities, watching a movie, serial or a call-in-and-request-a-song show was a community activity back then. You would have friends, family, neighbours and sometimes even strangers, huddle around in the room and watch the show in its entirety.

Of course, as technology improved, developed and advanced, not only did the community viewing aspect decline, but it brought with it the era of personalisation and comfort. Today, enjoying a movie that you want to watch, catching up on a serial or sitcom that tickles your fancy, watching your favourite match or just humming your favourite song along with the singers and actors, is a very personal affair. The present era is of a generation that wants everything on the go, and that very much encompasses having a ‘TV button on your mobile’.

This is where a premium entertainment destination like nexGTv comes into the picture.

"nexGTv is Digivive’s flagship and award-winning application offers users with wholesome entertainment across multi-screen devices, be it mobile, tablets or laptop/PCs." 1

I have to confess. I like watching TV as much as the next person. And despite having record and play later features on my home entertainment system, the problem that I often run into is one that I believe, resonates with a lot of us: shortage of time. Often, I find my shows being recorded, and yet no time to watch them. But here’s the thing. We do have the time. Perhaps not at home, when we have plenty of other activities that warrants our attention.

For example, the other day I had an appointment with my Doctor. Despite it being a weekday, it was really busy and I found myself waiting for about 90 minutes before I managed to see him. And because the waiting room was too noisy, reading a book was far too difficult. I’m sure a lot of us have been through similar scenarios. Waiting for appointments, buses, trains, planes, for your spouse to finish shopping - the list is practically endless. And what if you could put this ‘waiting’ time to good use and watch your favourite shows or movies, on-the-go, right there on the smart phone you have in your hand? That would be fantastic, wouldn’t it?

And that’s exactly what nexGTv aims to do.

"With a state-of-the-art app, compatible with most popular smartphone platforms including Symbian, Android, BlackBerry, Tizen and iOS, the consumers can access nexGTv irrespective of their bandwidth limitations or operating platform. The app streams over 155 Live TV channels with movies, TV Shows and videos. NexGtv keeps you entertained to suit all your moods and what makes it more interesting is that it has a host of unique features, one of them being pause and resume, besides a host of others." 2

From trending videos to breaking news, latest movies to funny episodes, and a host of multi-lingual shows including live TV shows, the app has everything that makes it a one-stop entertainment destination.  I first came across nexGTv while scouting through the Google Play store for something to keep my little one engaged. For those who have little kids, I’m sure you all know what a pain it can be to wait for hours with a cranky toddler in tow. The nexGTv app also has a host of videos that the kids will find entertaining, from episodes of the ‘Penguins of Madagascar' to the ‘Peekaboo’ series, along with live stream of the ‘Nick’ channel, with their favourite Motu Patlu, Ninja Hattori and more. You can even choose to watch the free videos or pay a very nominal subscription fee to unlock everything. I’m sure it’s cheaper than your cable subscription. And it runs across 2G, EDGE, 3G, 4G, and Wi-Fi networks.

Here are some snapshots from the app that shows you how easy it is to navigate through and use it. So easy, even a toddler can do it.
